Work Permits
Work Permits for Students
Students under the age of 18 are required by the State of California to obtain a work permit before beginning employment. This permit ensures that students are working in a safe environment and that their job does not interfere with their education.
To receive a work permit, students must complete the required application, obtain a signature from their employer and parent/guardian, and submit the form to the school for approval.
How to Obtain a Work Permit
Step 1: Complete Required Forms
Print and complete the following forms:

Forms can also be picked up in the Counseling Office.
Office Hours 7:30am-4:00pm
Step 2: Submit Your Forms
Once completed and signed by your employer:
- Bring forms to the Counseling Office OR
- Scan or take a photo and email to Peter Yang at pyang@ouhsd.net
- Fax submissions are also accepted: 530-534-5974
After your forms are received, your grades and attendance will be reviewed in Aeries. If requirements are met, your work permit will be issued.
Please note:
- Work permits are valid only for the employer listed
- A new permit is required for each job
