College, Career, & Military Planning

Post-High School Pathways

Planning for life after high school is an important step, and there are many options available to support every student’s goals and interests. Whether students are considering college, career training, or service opportunities, our goal is to help them explore possibilities and make informed decisions about their future.

At Las Plumas High School, we encourage students and families to begin planning early, stay informed, and take advantage of the resources available through the Counseling Office. Each pathway offers unique opportunities for growth, education, and career development.

College Pathways

Students interested in continuing their education after high school can explore options such as:

  • Community Colleges
  • California State Universities (CSU)
  • University of California (UC)
  • Private and out-of-state colleges

College pathways offer opportunities to earn degrees, transfer to four-year universities, and pursue a wide range of careers.

Career & Technical Pathways

Not all careers require a four-year degree. Students can explore:

  • Career Technical Education (CTE) programs
  • Trade schools and apprenticeships
  • Certifications and hands-on training programs

These pathways prepare students for in-demand careers and allow them to enter the workforce with valuable skills.

Military & Service Pathways

Students may also consider service-based options, including:

  • Military branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard)
  • Reserve and National Guard opportunities

These pathways provide structured training, career experience, educational benefits, and opportunities for personal growth.

Explore Your Options

Students are encouraged to:

  • Meet with their counselor regularly
  • Use career exploration tools like O*net
  • Participate in internships, job shadowing, or volunteer work
  • Research programs that match their interests and goals
